How billing works

Answers to the most common billing questions.

What am I paying for?

Your subscription adds $60 of usage credit to your credit balance each month and keeps your projects running. Usage draws that balance down in real time, and unused credit rolls over.

What's the base fee per project?

Each project has a size — Spark ($4), Standard ($6), Pro ($8) or Max ($12) per month — that reserves that much RAM for it and sets its priority for CPU and disk when the server is busy. The fee accrues continuously, running or paused, prorated to the second, and you can change a project's size at any time from its card — the app restarts on the new size.

How is usage measured?

CPU, memory, disk, and bandwidth — tracked per calendar month. Your dashboard shows each project's month-to-date usage.

If my project is paused, am I still billed?

Only for the base fee (its size, from $4/mo) and disk storage. You're not billed for CPU, memory, or traffic while it's stopped. One exception: if you deploy (push/pull) to a paused project, that transfer is billed as bandwidth.

How do I stop being charged for a project entirely?

Delete it. Pausing keeps the base fee and disk charges — only deleting removes the project (and its files) and stops all charges.

Pause vs. delete?

Pausing stops the app but keeps its files and data, so you can resume later. Deleting removes the project and its files permanently.

What is a monthly spend cap?

An optional per-project ceiling on monthly spend that protects you from surprise bills. Example: if your app is DDoSed and burns through a $10 cap, it automatically pauses — so you won't be charged for bandwidth beyond that $10 for the month.

When does a project pause automatically?

Two cases: your region's wallet drops below -$1, or the project hits its monthly spend cap.

How does a paused project resume?

Automatically — when your credit balance is funded again (region balancing, auto-refill, or a top-up), when a new calendar month resets a spend cap, or when you raise the cap.

What is auto-refill?

When on, we automatically charge your card $10 whenever a region's wallet drops below $0. Turn it off and your card is never charged automatically.

What is region balancing?

When on, we automatically move ~$2 from your other regions to cover a region running low — using your own funds, never your card. It runs before auto-refill.

What's the billing region?

The region where your $60/mo credit is deposited each renewal. Other regions draw from their own wallets; region balancing moves funds between them.

Do I need a subscription to use my credits?

Yes — an active subscription is required to run projects. Your wallet credits pay for usage, but the subscription is what keeps your projects live.

If I cancel, can I still use my remaining credits?

Yes — until your current billing period ends. Canceling (via Manage Billing) schedules the cancellation for the end of the period you've already paid for, so your projects keep running and your credits stay usable right up to that date.

What happens when the subscription actually ends?

At the cancel date your projects stop and a 30-day grace period begins — resubscribe within it to bring everything back. After 30 days your projects are deleted; your account and any remaining credit balance remain.

What if my card fails on renewal?

Your account is flagged past-due as a warning, but your projects keep running. If the subscription ultimately cancels, the pause/grace flow above applies.

What we charge

ResourceRate
Project base fee (by size)$4 – $12 / month
CPU (while computing)$0.36 / CPU-hour
Memory (RAM) (resident)$6.00 / GB-month
Disk (files + swap)$0.20 / GB-month

Created automatically by every nukebase push. Rolling back undoes that push — files it replaced go back, files it deleted return, files it added are removed. Anything the push never touched stays exactly as it is.

Choose your plan

Every plan includes the same features. The difference is how much usage credit you get each month.

The base fee reserves that much RAM and sets your priority for CPU and disk when the server is busy. Past the line your app keeps running but swaps and slows down, and swap is billed at the disk rate. Memory in RAM, CPU, disk and bandwidth are metered at the published rates on every size.

What happens next

1
Extract the downloaded project zip — right-click the .zip and select "Extract All".
2
Open VS Code → File → Add Folder to Workspace → select your extracted project folder.
3
Open a terminal in VS Code → Terminal → New Terminal → "Select Folder As Directory", then run the commands below.
Terminal
# Install the CLI globally
C:\Users\matt\project npm install -g

# Install project npm packages
C:\Users\matt\project npm install

# Push local changes to the live server
C:\Users\matt\project nukebase push

# Pull live server changes to your local machine
C:\Users\matt\project nukebase pull

Your project is live at:

Next: unzip it, then in a terminal in that folder run npm install, npx nukebase login and npx nukebase push. Or skip the ZIP next time: npx nukebase create myapp 256mb.
